Story Jam Presents: Stories For Peace: A Celebration of MLK Day

Story Jam returns to SPACE for its annual MLK Day show with STORIES FOR PEACE, a creative offering of true, personal stories and original music played by top Chicago musicians. 

Join us for this unforgettable evening where stories become bridges to unite in the spirit of Dr. King.

STORIES FOR PEACE will include soul-stirring songs by The Story Jam Band with special guest songwriters who connect their original compositions to five never-before-heard stories of resounding truth and courage.

Curated and produced by Story Jam founder and creative director Stephanie Rogers, STORIES FOR PEACE is not merely an event, it is a celebration of the human spirit as well as a tribute to the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

This Story Jam features duet storytelling (two storytellers sharing the stage at the same time) with musical creations by extraordinary cellist Ian Maksin. Ian uses high-tech looping and tracking while improvising over developed musical themes. An absolute must-see!

Every first Saturday of the month, Story Jam hosts STORY SERENADE at Madame Zuzu’s. There is a rotating roster of hosts, musicians, and storytellers. Each month, five true, personal stories are told, and one singer-songwriter improvises songs on the spot to echo or respond to each story. It’s very fun!

The Cocoon is Story Jam’s monthly online open mic led by Kory May. Each month, anyone is welcome to bring a story to share and receive peer feedback.
